Even before full
burn-in of the speakers and final positioning, the great potential of the system
is already evident. Inspite of the bare and almost square room, powerful
room-shaking bass from Ray Brown's bass ("Moonlight Serenade" LP) was rendered
superbly at high volume without a hint of boom. We then tried a Japanese normal
pressing LP of "Friday Night At San Francisco", as well as a half-speed version.
This just bolstered the fact that most Japanese normal non-jazz pressings are really
sonically inferior. After switching to the half-speed version, the system
proved itself very adequate in the speed department, as well as in coherence and
separation, with the blazingly fast guitars and acoustic space rendered well.
At any rate, once all
the other FM Acoustics gear arrive to take their place in this system, full
synergy will only bring this system to soar to even greater sonic heights for
sure.
