Notes:
First of all, thanks to KC for some of the wonderful photos below. The
shots in daylight ambient light are great, with a lovely mood, which we cannot
duplicate with our flash. Just add an artist's easel and some paints, and
it can pass of as an artist's studio :) At any rate, KC is himself an
artist in photography.
This system is located in a room of wooden walls and floor, with an arched
ceiling similar to what we find in attics. It consists of the top of the
line Naim Audio system, except for the speakers and analog system, which are
otherwise just as capable. With the Neat Ultimatum MF9 loudspeakers
in the system, a more balanced sonic presentation is achieved, a departure from
the all-out attack of the Naim speakers they replace. The top Naim system
certainly is one of the systems that can bring out the best that the Neat
Ultimatum MF9 speakers are capable of. To cut to the chase, this is
certainly a reference system for Naim Audio users, and in particular those who
prefer a different presentation from Naim's own speakers.
In Naim circles, a common phrase heard is that "it's what the musicians are
doing that matters most, and not where they are". We agree to this
wholeheartedly, but it also doesn't hurt if one knows where they are, in
addition to hearing their instruments in higher timbral fidelity :) It
would be great when the musician will not wonder why his carefully tuned guitar
or piano was sounding different in a recording ...
