Linn LP12 (Trampolin and Valhalla) with the rare Linn Ittok LV III/2 1993 model (Sold - USA [tonearm], India [turntable])

Excellent condition turntable, with Trampolin and Valhalla power supply 230-240 volts, mint tonearm.  Includes original turntable Linn packaging, and tonearm already mounted.  Free Audio-Technica cartridge thrown in.

** (tonearm already sold)

The Linn Ittok LVIII/2 1993 model is one of the rare tonearms, and has been found by some users to be equal or better in performance to the higher model Linn Ekos 1.  This LV III/2 model came out only for a short period, and is distinguished by its Ekos-type arm rest (no hole in the armboard needed).

What is a Trampolin ?

Description: Replacement baseboard fitted with 4 adjustable feet on rubber dampers similar to those fitted to the Axis turntable. Its silicone membrane suspension is intended to filter out a specific band of low frequency noise centred on the area just below 50Hz. Said to improve the LP12 when situated in a room with a solid floor or when placed on heavy furniture. "It should bring you a better bass performance and a little more detail."

What is a Valhalla ?

Description: The Valhalla is a synthesized AC source, the board rectifies the AC line, then uses a cheerful crystal oscillator and other circuitry that is used to create a single sine wave at 50Hz, then a simple phase shift cap is used to provide the shift for the second winding.

"The Linn LP12 has a long and varied history and requires to be "set-up" correctly to achieve best results. The questions from the list about the LP12 and how to set it up have resulted in the compilation of this FAQ."

The VPI Scout is a smaller, more affordable version of the groundbreaking Aries, with a footprint measuring only 19" W x 4" H x 13" D.

The Scout has all the features you want in a high-end turntable: an outboard motor, a precision machined acrylic platter, and the amazing JMW-9 tonearm. The Scout is so simple to set-up; you can have the table up and running in just minutes.  See Art Dudley's amazing review in Stereophile where he writes, "Go hear the VPI Scout right away. It's hard to imagine another way of spending $1600 that will add this much to your system!"

•Designer Harry Weisfeld has whapped the ball so far out of the ball park with this one, it isn't funny•One song is all it took - one verse, if you want to know the truth - to know that the Scout/JMW combination did an excellent job getting the notes off the record and weaving them into believable, convincing, rhythmically involving music•• •Art Dudley, Stereophile

"If you want to experience a huge taste of analog heaven without the hellish pricetag, the VPI Aries Scout deserves your attention." •Editor•s Choice Award, The Absolute Sound

The JMW-9 tonearm is the perfect complement to the Scout, offering all of the advantages of a unipivot tonearm at a bargain price. The arm has a low friction bearing mounted on a solid stainless steel rod with markings to set VTA (Vertical Tracking Angle). As with the more expensive JMW-10 and JMW-12 arms, the tonearm assembly of the JMW-9 can be removed and replaced in seconds, allowing instant cartridge changes with multiple armwands. An RCA junction box allows any RCA-terminated interconnects to be used.

VPI Tonearm Cable:

The most synergistic match you can make with a cable to your JMW tonearm. This soft design cable has excellent feedback rejection into the junction box and is made from the exact same internal wire used inside the JMW tonearms. Terminated with high quality gold plated RCA connectors and covered in an attractive black mesh sleeve. Requires 30 hours of burn in.

Audio Research PH5 phono stage   (Sold - Thailand)

Mint condition, includes box, literature, few months old only.  Does not include the handle which is now an optional item.

The PH5 is AR's latest model, and replaces the older PH3 and PH3SE.

"The PH5 starts with a new package. The full-width 19" front panel's layout is similar to the SP16, with an LED display on the left side and four soft-touch buttons on the right. The buttons control Power, Mute, Mono, and Loading. For the first time in a PH-series phono stage you can adjust cartridge loading to 47K, 1000, 500, 200, or 100 ohms at the touch of a button. And, better yet, the four front panel controls are duplicated on the remote control included with the PH5. Now you can even adjust loading from the comfort of your favorite chair!"

STD 305S turntable - Click Me! for an article

SME Series III - An SME classic, a beautifully designed and finely crafted arm. It won a Design Council Award in 1978.  It incorporates an ingenious and convenient way of making all of the essential adjustments. The following adjustments are made using finger-grip controls making them easy to execute. Since adjustments are referenced to scales they are repeatable.
* Coarse downforce adjustments by macro-adjustments of the counterweight
* Separate control for Fine downforce adjustments by micro-adjustments of the countweight
* Lateral counterweight balance adjustments for azimuth accuracy
* Bias/anti-skating adjustment

In addition the counterweight is fully adjustable for light or heavy cartridges, by an ingenious technique, without the need for replacement counterweights or additional parts.  Photocopy of the manual and mounting template are included.

Transfiguration Temper Supreme MC phono cartridge (without stylus)   (Sold - Italy)

Good condition exterior, no stylus (due to accident), cantilever intact.  Still a good cartridge worthy to retip (new Temper was in the USD 3000 range).

We can also have it traded in for a new transfiguration model, to a brand-new Temper Supreme, add USD 1437. Add USD 937 for a brand-new Transfiguration Spirit.

Otherwise, retipping can be done by Jan Allaerts, The Cartridge Man, Expert Stylus, Van Den Hul, Garrott Bros.. Expert Stylus in the UK would probably be the cheapest.

Lyra Parnassus Version 1 Original Blue Body phono cartridge  (Sold - Singapore)

Rare, and in very good condition, was used sparingly as former owner had 2 of these.

Ever heard of Lyra's US$ 9800 Olympos cartridge ?  It is Lyra's top-of-the-line, and can only be created from a Parnassus Original Blue Body, if they can find one.  That's how special and good this cartridge is in Lyra's hierarchy, its non-replaceable "ingredients" are topnotch.  Naturally, this can be rebuilt into an Olympos if you want.

Vinyl Asylum Comment - Click Me!

"Parnassus version 1 - the best cartridge period, probably will never be beat; internal platinum parts of a quality no longer available; also, the mass/compliance seems to be magical in the Aro, if you take the body off, which lowers the mass, it isn't as good. Sounds like a very very expensive Troika, and then some."
- Chris Koster, Naim Audio USA - Click Me! for full text

"I am currently using a Parnassus 1 which is still, by far, the king of them all. It is rare, and the impression I have is that the quality of platinum-core magnets used in it have not been available for some time, and this is why production was ended four years ago."

Vintage phono head amplifier, in excellent working condition.  Physical condition still very good for its age, slight scratches, check out the photos.  No manual.  High gain, probably  30 - 35db gain, depending on cartridge impedance.

Low Noise, with 22 ohms and 20 ohms setting.  Bypass button for switching off phono headamp from signal path.

Linn Karma MC phono cartridge  (SOLD - South Korea)

Still in working condition.  Was used with an Ittok and Linn LP12.  Experience what other users had of this vintage cartridge.

Also, perfect with Naim Audio "K" phono cards, since the "K" stands for Karma :)

"The Karma has fine bandwidth integration, and is uncoloured and fast.  The body is a small strong alloy casting. The Karma is very weighty, powerful and extended in the bass..."

"low output moving coil. Superseded Asak  as top of the range. Looks like Asak and has aluminium cantilever. Unlike the Asak it has a solid aluminium body, more powerful magnet and different pole piece geometry. As opposed to previous Supex cartridges badged as Linn this was the first designed by Linn and manufactured by Supex. The Karma is clearly much more of a Linn cartridge than its predecessors."

"The Dragon-CT features a tonearm-like device at the back of the table that directly measures the runout in the gooves, and by way of a split platter, moves the lp until the runout is negligable. This sounds simple enough, but it took the considerable skills of renowned mechanical engineer Niro Nakamichi to figure out how to implement."

"The Dragon-CT is equipped with an excellent tonearm featuring an interchangeable plug-in arm-wand (like a headshell), but the connector is located at the tonearm pivot, similar to the excellent Graham tonearm, for lower effective mass and improved rigidity."

Near-mint, one week old, latest model, with box and all accessories, high-output MC cartridge.

"CG enthused about this nude, P-Mount-less version of the standard Blue Point MC pointing to its lack of base bloat, total honesty, and cleaner, more extended highs. It also offers excellent detail and focus. A touch of stylast applied to the underside of the cantilever optimizes the base."

"Hi-Fi News group test, Diamonds Are Forever, Sept., 1996, by Andrew Cartmel. • "The quality of the special and its very competitive price made it imperative to mention; he essential character of this cartridge is that it is profoundly musical. Logic DM-101 Turntable with SME 3009 Reference tonearm

(SME 3009R tonearm - Sold - Thailand)

Still in excellent working condition, and exterior still great.  Check out the pictures.   Includes the excellent SME 3009R.  The "R" means Reference, the model which suits both MCs and MMs.  Without the "R", best suited for MMs.  Headshell is an Orsonic headshell.

Listen at our showroom, not even optimized, and it is one good turntable for SGD 700.

The Logic was once carried by Ong Radio, Singapore's legendary McIntosh dealer.

** Table and arm can be sold separately **

"You'll get yourself a front end that's both dramatically better than Regas or Projects, and far superior to any CD player under a grand (in GBP)... In the thrusting new digital world of 2001, this twenty year old stalwart is still a surprisingly good choice."

Dynavector 17D2 MKII 'Karat Diamond' MC phono cartridge  (Sold - Philippines)

Brand-new, in box.  One piece only, was a spare cartridge, now to be replaced with a Jan Allaerts MC1B as spare.

"The first cartridge built using 'dispersion' theory. Its Micro-Ridge stylus and very short (1.7mm long) solid diamond cantilever give a reduction in 'dispersion' along with improved high frequency extension all the way up to 100KHz. The latest Dynavector's patented magnet circuit design achieved higher output of 0.26mV with crystal clear mid-range and treble even during the largest symphonic crescendos."

  • SHURE INCORPORATED, the inventor of the moving magnet cartridge, is also the company that introduced the first successful stereophonic phonograph cartridge to the world in 1958.

  • STEREOPHILE MAGAZINE, the premier audiophile publication in the United States, selected the V15VxMR as the Analog Source of the Year runner up in 1997, the year this model was introduced. (Note: the category winner was a turntable.) December 1997

  • GRAMOPHONE MAGAZINE, the most respected audiophile publication in the United Kingdom, awarded the V15VxMR its "Audio Choice" designation for being "Outstanding in terms of performance and value."   The V15VxMR was the only cartridge to receive this award for 1997. January 1998

  • SONY MUSIC has selected the V15VxMR as the reference cartridge for their archival operations - one of the very few contexts we know of where the term "reference" has real meaning.

Origin Live Rega RB-250 with Structural Modification   (Sold - Singapore)

Specifications:

"It should be noted that the structural modification to the rega arm is far more significant than any rewiringof the rega, even though rewiring the tonearm is known to do wonders for the RB250 & RB300. Rewiring the rega arm yields particular improvements to bass weight and transparency.

The modification entails reconstructing the rear end of the rega arm on which the counter weight is attached. This is an extremely critical area, as the counterweight represents by far the highest moving mass in the arm and affects any tonearm•s performance more than can be imagined. The work involves removing the rear end stub (which is normally just screwed into the end of the Rega arm - a sonic disaster), and replacing it with a new stub, which is then torqued onto the arm by a thin high tensile bolt. The stub is also designed such that it presents a low contact area onto the arm tube and is therefore decoupled, yet far more rigid than the original. This also allows the counterweight to be rigidly torqued onto the stub using an Allen bolt. On an unmodified arm, the counterweight must not be rigidly coupled in this way due to the poor vibration characteristics of the standard arm / rear stub joint. This ingenious Origin Live modification elevates a good tonearm into the same league as the super arms and at an insignificant outlay. This mod applies to the RB250, RB300, RB600 and the RB900 in fact a modified RB250 will still comfortably outperform a modified rega RB300, RB600, or RB900 tonearm."
