SPECIFICATIONS:

"In the early 80's an amplifier was considered good only if it had very low Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) figures. In order to obtain low THD, designers used massive overall negative feedback techniques. During this era, Victor Sima was the head of Sima Electronics Company where he developed a different approach to amplifier design; Amplifiers designed with low negative feedback.

The approach was to look at each stage of the amplifier as an individual amplifier, then reduce local feedback and extend the frequency response as much as possible. Listening test were used to optimise the local feedback current and voltage of each stage. After optimisation, the individual stages were connected together to form the whole amplifier. The amplifier then passed a series of bench tests with resistive and complex loads to ensure stability. This design approach didn't have the impressive distortion figures of amplifiers using overall feedback, but had more impressive sound quality, and for most audiophiles that is what matters most. Still today, this is a widespread design approach amongst many well-known amplifier manufacturers."

OTL design, Twelve of the fabulous Russian 6C33 dual triode tubes per monoblock. Output power is 220W into a 8 ohm load which only drops to 160W into a 5 ohm load. Unlike previous Joule-Electra OTLs, these guys have the power supply for the amps fully inboard. Each monoblock amp requires two power cords (detachable 15A IEC types), one is used for the filament power supply and the other powers the rest of the amp. A feedback control allows continuous adjustment of feedback on each amp. Bias adjustment for each tube is easily adjustable from the top of each amplifier.

Summary:

The Rite of Passage Monoblock amplifiers are indeed passage into a higher realm of audio performance. Zanden's model 7000-300B amplifiers are single-ended stereo triode designs.

They have been engineered with a single purpose: the realistic reproduction of live music. To this end no detail has been overlooked and Zanden has truly created one of the world's finest SET amplifiers.

Like all 7000 line amplifiers the model 7000-300B benefits from a unique patented 3rd stage NO-NFB (no negative feedback) direct coupled vacuum tube circuit. The power supply is constructed entirely from tube rectifiers to exclude the switching noise of diodes. A PC board is utilized to achieve the shortest possible signal path, and the highest quality parts are used throughout, including polypropylene film caps. The base, front and rear panels are constructed of 16 mm thick aluminum to keep vibrations to a minimum.

The unit is then covered with beautiful stainless steel polished to a mirror finish. An excellent passive volume attenuator made by DACT is also included, so the model 7000 can be used directly with a CD player or similar source.

The 7000-300B uses possibly the world's most beloved triode, the 300B. The 300B delivers unrivalled midrange beauty, detail and realism. It truly is the music lover's tube.
