OTL design, Twelve of the fabulous Russian
6C33 dual triode tubes per monoblock. Output power is 220W into a 8
ohm load which only drops to 160W into a 5 ohm load. Unlike previous
Joule-Electra OTLs, these guys have the power supply for the amps fully
inboard. Each monoblock amp requires two power cords
(detachable 15A IEC types), one is used for the filament power supply and
the other powers the rest of the amp. A feedback control allows continuous
adjustment of feedback on each amp. Bias adjustment for each tube is easily
adjustable from the top of each amplifier.
Very rare power amplifiers.
Summary:
The Rite of Passage Monoblock amplifiers are
indeed passage into a higher realm of audio performance. Harmonic thunder in
a bottle, these amps deliver the musical goods unlike any other large
amplifier. Unconstrained dynamically the Rites allow music to emerge with
uncommon grace, speed, control and finesse. The Rites are designed to
function in large scale systems and couple with even the most demanding
loudspeaker to yield truly "great" realization of any musical program. If
your system and room are capable of this level of performance, these
amplifiers are the stuff of legends. Arguably, the most capable amplifier on
the planet. Beginning with a Golden Ear award from the Absolute Sound in
Dec. 2001-Jan. 2002, and still being discussed, the Rites are to receive a
full review in an upcoming issue of The Absolute Sound.
