passed the torch and appointed his close colleague, Masaki Ashizawa, who he
worked with for 16 years, as the President of Audio Note Japan.
Masaki San is
also Kondo's chief designer and engineer, and he hand-builds their beautiful amplifiers, using expensive,
select, and rare
materials to last a life time.
Kondo Audio Note Japan's goal was to achieve both the utmost high fidelity of a
performance, and that includes the emotional involvement that the artists
intended, not just an aggregate of fragmented sound.
"To reproduce the genius's performances at their best is my absolute goal. I
build my own microphone and this is a part of my quest for the best way to
reproduce the recordings that we can see how the artists played and how they

To achieve their goals, Kondo Audio Note Japan manufactures in-house almost
all major parts found in their products.
Let us take the capacitors used, this is just one example. Kondo Audio Note
Japan have made comprehensive research for capacitors that do not affect sound
quality, and manufacture their own capacitors to resolve problems of
existing mass-produced capacitors, and this costs a lot.
KSL capacitors are now used in all of Kondo's amplifiers. The differences
can be recognized instantly. With the KSL capacitors, we came one step closer
to a "single wire with gain" amplifier."

Hiroyasu
Kondo founded Audio Note Japan in 1976. The second son of a
Buddhist priest, he was a professor of electronic engineering and
molecular metallurgy.
He
was often referred to as the "silver smith" for his revolutionary use of
age annealed silver in his audio equipment. The Kondo ONGAKU amplifier
will forever be a symbol of his success, a legendary amplifier.
