The Scheu Premier MK2 and Premier MK3 turntables are true
reference high-end turntables, and have the distinction of replacing
many more expensive turntables in our region Singapore. Properly
set up and matched, their performance is outstanding. The
simplicity in design and attention to detail are keys to their high
quality. The Scheu Premier will surely not be a bottleneck when
better tonearms and cartridges are mounted later on, and customers have
proven this themselves. As such, they serve as a very good foundation
for further upgrades.
And now, Scheu Analog introduces their new model in the year 2006, for such users who value a strong foundation for future upgrades. Accepting from one to three tonearms, it allows users to have various
configurations using only one turntable, and will come in black, white,
and clear. For example, one can optimize one tonearm for overall
playback, one for mono, one for poor records. Or one can also have
different cartridges or tonearms each with a different sound
presentation to suit one's moods.
Two new turntables with the distinctive name “Das Laufwerk”
(German word for The Turntable) have recently become Scheu Analog’s
top-of-the range models. In terms of performance they comfortably exceed
the company’s previous top model, the Premier, and represent the
beginning of a whole new phase for Scheu Analog. |
Conceived as a heavyweight turntable, the Das Laufwerk No. 1
is based on the proven elements of the Premier. Thus it
also features the chamber filled with lead shot to reduce
resonance and the inverted precision bearing and electronically
regulated DC motor with its fine-speed adjustment for 33-1/3 and
45 rpm using a string drive. The material for the shell and the
platter, which is 80 mm high and weighs 7.5 kg, both underline
the expertise of Scheu Analog in the fashioning of acrylic.
Derived from the Premier Mk3's shell design and optimised for
stability and reduction of resonance, the result offers
increased flexibility, amongst other things, along with the
possibility of using three tone arms of differing lengths. The
turntable is seated on steel feet adjustable in height by means
of a fine thread that can either be flat or shaped into a spike
and are located directly under the bases for the arms.
The choice of finish includes polished black acrylic, polished
transparent acrylic or satin-finish colourless acrylic (glazed
white), each in conjunction with stainless steel. An acrylic
armboard is also supplied as standard. Armboards are also
available in brass, aluminium and bronze for a supplementary
price.
