The bearing, where the top part is polished in a semi-arc design.  There are no ball bearings.

A small bit of oil is simply sprayed on the bearing for lubrication.

Speed adjustment is so intuitive, just toggle the Up/Down switch.

Speed adjustment settings can then be Saved/Stored.
